The Live AIS feature is now accessible, providing a real-time map view of your vessel alongside surrounding boats worldwide. This service eliminates the need for an AIS receiver—simply use your mobile device to access the data. Various icons distinctly represent different vessel categories, enhancing situational awareness. By selecting any vessel, users can view detailed information such as name, MMSI, IMO, call sign, status, speed, heading, coordinates, distance from your current GPS location, and more.

Within this application, Flytomap offers a professional GPS chart plotting subscription for only 4.99 USD, providing added advanced features for dedicated navigation needs.

At a glance, the app provides access to comprehensive worldwide marine and outdoor maps through viewer.flytomap.com. Satellite imagery overlays enhance chart detail across the globe, complemented by terrain features via open-source data from OpenStreetMap, OpenCycleMap, and ESRI topographic maps. Seamless NOAA raster charts are regularly updated through official government servers.

The ActiveCaptain community connects over 200,000 boaters globally, fostering a collaborative environment for mariners.

This application supports multiple functionalities useful for navigation and exploration: the maps are downloaded directly to the device for offline use; users can input specific latitudes and longitudes or search for points of interest; fast zoom, rotate, and pan capabilities; route planning with unlimited waypoints; head-up and course-up display modes; a geocompass; live GPS positioning; heading vector indicating movement direction; distance measurement tools; real-time target/destination tracking with speed, distance, and bearing data; background operation mode allowing continued use while multitasking or in calls; unlimited track sharing via email in KMZ format that remains accessible without cellular data.

Additional features include KMZ/KML conversion to and from GPX files, optimized battery consumption, and integration with ActiveCaptain—a global boating community that enables users to view and contribute real-time information on marinas, anchorages, hazards, and local knowledge updates.

This app is continuously evolving and is compatible with charts installed on NAVICO LOWRANCE, B&G, NORTHSTAR EAGLE, and SIMRAD devices.
